Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer with deep expertise in Node.js and
modern web technologies. This role combines hands-on development with leadership
responsibilities, guiding a team of engineers while remaining actively involved in coding
and architecture decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Develop: Build scalable applications using Node.js, React, and modern frameworks.
Database Expertise: Work with MongoDB, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL for data modeling and optimization.
API Development: Create and maintain RESTful APIs, GraphQL, integrate third-party APIs, and develop SDKs for internal and external use.
Code Quality: Write, review, and maintain high-quality code following best practices.
Mentorship: Coach and mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Architecture & Documentation: Produce technical documentation, architectural specifications, and contribute to system design.
Integration: Connect multiple technologies and services to deliver cohesive solutions.
Maintenance: Dive into existing applications to understand functionality and implement improvements.
Collaboration: Work closely with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployments and feature delivery.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 10 years as a developer
Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing Node.js applications.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Frontend Skills: Proficiency in React.js and modern TypeScript.
Database Skills: Hands-on experience with MongoDB and either SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
API & SDK Development: Proven track record of building APIs and SDKs, including third-party integrations.
Leadership: Prior experience leading or mentoring developers in an Agile/Kanban environment.
Technical Documentation: Ability to write clear, concise technical specifications and documentation.
Day-to-day:
The successful candidate will familiarize themselves with the existing code base written in NodeJs and React as well as create prototypes and develop greenfield projects. The existing software makes use of technologies such as GraphQL and MongoDB and is written using Typescript. Greenfield projects will use similar technologies and others such as Postgres and REST APIs. Problem solving, code reviews, mentoring and writing technical documentation is a key aspect of this position.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
