Position Summary: The Lead Knit Textile Designer is responsible for the creation and development of innovative knit mattress fabrics engineered to meet customer requirements across price, performance, construction, and aesthetic design. This role combines creative leadership, technical expertise, and customer collaboration to deliver market-relevant textile solutions while staying ahead of industry and design trends Position Responsibilities Create, reproduce, and modify knit fabric designs using EAT Knit CAD software in alignment with customer specifications. Partner directly with customers to develop proprietary collections aligned with their brand vision and market positioning. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Design, and internal Creative teams to translate customer needs into executable design solutions. Participate in and support customer presentations, including preparation of visual concepts and design storytelling. Research and analyze trends within textiles, home fashion, and the mattress industry, providing insight to guide design direction. Liaise with Research & Development to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives. Document all technical specifications required for accurate manufacturing and production. Prepare final design files for knit machine execution. Review sample fabrics and recommend or implement necessary design or technical adjustments. Manage multiple projects while adhering to deadlines, volume requirements, and budget constraints. Maintain current knowledge of knitting technologies, materials, and production advancements. Attend textile and industry trade shows as required. Role Qualifications and Essential Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design or a related field. Proficiency in CAD design software, required: EAT or NedGraphics; preferred: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Strong working knowledge of circular knitting technologies, including Mayer and Monarch machines. Experience in trend research, concept development, and presentation creation. In-depth understanding of yarn properties, textile materials, and knitting production processes, including machine types and gauges. Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to shift priorities and remain productive in a dynamic environment. Strong problem solver who approaches challenges with creativity, analytical thinking, and persistence. Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain focus and accuracy during extended periods of concentrated work. Reporting to This Position This position does not have direct reports. Physical demands and Work Environment The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
