Job Summary The College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a Lecturer faculty position in the Department of Public Health and Health Services Administration to begin September 16, 2026. The primary teaching area for this position will be public health in the graduate program. An ongoing research program and service to the university, college, and department are also required for tenure-track appointments. Responsibilities include teaching and supervising student internships in community-based organizations. All faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching. The candidate will be expected to engage in online learning, pursuit of grants, program assessment, and be involved in facilitation of accreditation with the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Department Context The Department of Public Health and Health Administration (PHHA) has programs housed on the residential campus in Cheney, WA and in the Catalyst Building in downtown Spokane. The department offers three fully online accelerated-format graduate degrees and certificates: a Master of Public Health (MPH), a Graduate Certificate in Public Health, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration. The department also offers hybrid undergraduate programs including the B.S. Public Health, B.A. Health Services Administration and a minor in Health Services Management. College and Program Focus The college and department prepare students from all populations and communities to help meet the growing market demand in health care and education. The college is home to several nationally accredited programs with an increased focus on inter-professional education (IPE) and expanding representation in healthcare fields. Required Qualifications An earned doctoral degree in Public Health (PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent) or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by the time of appointment Demonstrated skills and knowledge relevant to teaching public health graduate courses Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching graduate level courses Experience in course development Excellent communication and networking skills Basic computer skills, including word processing and email Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in an accelerated online format Knowledge of the local community relevant to developing practicum sites Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public Demonstrated skills to engage multiple constituencies for program support and collaboration Experience in managing and development of practicum experiences or relevant program experiences Experience in providing student support services (i.e., assisting students with writing, Canvas usage) Other Skills And Abilities Ability to work independently Ability to work collaboratively Job Duties Typical workload for this position will involve approximately 45 credits per academic year, subject to departmental needs. The MPH lecturer will teach graduate courses to MPH majors in the accelerated online format. Depending on experience and interest, this position will also coordinate practicum experiences and participate in student research projects. Responsibilities include teaching graduate-level courses, academic and career advising of MPH students, and supervision of students’ applied practice experience. A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first semester of the appointment. Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning. Meet all scheduled classes, plan and communicate course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and evaluation methods, schedule and attend office hours, and turn in grades according to deadlines. Advise students on Department, College and University requirements and career opportunities; supervise and monitor students in applied practice learning experiences; collaborate with faculty to design high-quality experiential learning activities; facilitate relevancy between department curriculum and industry needs.
