Legal Assistant Job Overview
Boardman Clark seeks a skilled and dedicated Legal Assistant to join us in our Baraboo office, located in the heart of beautiful Sauk County. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for carrying out administrative services and providing support to firm attorneys in both litigation and transactional matters.
Our most successful Legal Assistants demonstrate skills in organization and planning, attention to detail, the ability to respond and adapt to changes based on client needs and deadlines, the ability to work independently, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to attorneys in multiple practice areas, with a primary emphasis on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and real estate law. Additional practice area support includes municipal law, business transactions, and civil litigation.
- Monitor deadlines and manage multiple calendars, schedule appointments and meetings.
- Contact clients and others to obtain information, arrange meetings, and address other matters.
- Enter, review, and edit time entries for attorneys.
- Serve as back-up to Receptionist.
- Prepare, review, and edit documents, emails, correspondence, agreements, and other legal and business documents from notes, templates, drafts, or dictated text under often time sensitive deadlines.
- Assemble work product for delivery to clients in various mediums.
- Open and maintain files, organize and maintain filings (including electronic filing) and files. Docket court filing and other deadlines consistent with firm policy.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma is required. Two or four-year degree preferred.
- Proven experience as legal assistant or legal secretary.
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols.
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office, including legal billing and document management software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently.
