About the Role:

The firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Montreal office and support a fast-paced, high-performing litigation team. This role is ideal for an organized, proactive professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

You will play a critical role in litigation file management, court document preparation, and administrative support, acting as a key liaison between lawyers, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation, organization, and assembly of litigation and court documents, including affidavits, notices, factums, and books of authorities
  • Monitor legal timelines, deadlines, and procedural requirements
  • Act as a liaison between lawyers and internal and external stakeholders regarding file progress
  • Manage service and delivery of court documents and procedural notices
  • Proofread and edit documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting
  • Provide administrative support including file opening and closing, meeting coordination, and expense report preparation
  • Organize and maintain accurate electronic and physical client files
  • Support billing processes, expense tracking, and invoice payments in accordance with firm policies
  • Exercise sound judgment and resourcefulness to independently resolve administrative issues
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English (written and spoken)
  • This role requires frequent interaction with English-speaking third parties and collaboration across offices where English is the primary working language
  • A high level of proficiency in English is essential, along with excellent command of written and spoken French
  • Vocational Secondary School Diploma (DEP) or College Diploma (DEC) in Office Administration, with a legal focus
  • Three to five years of experience as a legal assistant supporting multiple litigation lawyers, preferably in a large law firm
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec court practices and procedures
  • Experience with Aderant or other legal billing systems, including billing cycles, expenses, and invoice payments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong general computer skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and client-focused mindset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
