The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Office of Legal Services (OLS) is seeking a permanent, full time Legal Support Supervisor I (LSS I) to join the OLS team. The LSS I acts with independence to perform a variety of supervisory, secretarial and related administrative functions for the OLS. The LSS I will gain knowledge and understanding of the structure and services provided by the OLS and the Department's organizational structure including program areas within the Department. The incumbent initiates the development and implementation of OLS secretarial protocols including tracking systems, policies and procedures.

Working Conditions
This position is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento, at 1501 Capitol Avenue, within walking distance to the CA State Capitol Park, several restaurants, farmers markets, community events, and public transportation.
This position requires extensive use of a desktop/laptop computer, computer monitor, mouse, keyboard, and telephone throughout the day. Persons appointed to this position may be reasonably expected to bend, kneel, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; and must be able to sit and/or stand for a long duration.
This position is required to provide coverage during the core business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and may participate in part time (office centered, hybrid) telework in accordance with DHCS Telework Guidelines.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience performing legal and administrative duties
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of and experience with ProLaw (or similar legal case management system)
- Experience drafting, editing, proofreading, formatting, and reviewing legal documents
- Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively organize and coordinate assignments; and prioritize workload and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with others; and provide guidance to staff
- Maintains an environment of teamwork and effective communication with OLS and other departmental staff
- Experience in a supervisory or lead role for legal assignments or projects
- Ability to successfully analyze information and make appropriate decisions
- Experience developing and successfully implementing legal/administrative/operational procedures
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, flexibility and confidentiality
- Dependable, punctual, with excellent attendance
