Job Highlights

Join the Fraud Prevention Labor Standards program as our Workers Compensation Adjudicator 6 Supervisor! In this role, youll supervise the Fraud Adjudication unit, which is responsible for the final adjudication of claims and parties rendered beneficiates to Title 51 benefits, whom have been subject to an investigation.

In this role, youll be overseeing the team responsible for the assessment of fraud overpayments and penalties upon final determination of offenses against the Department of Labor and Industries. Youll be the expert to the Workers Compensation series, as well as to the Washington State Attorney Generals Office in regards to investigative findings and adjudicative procedures.


Some of what youll do:

  • Monitor assigned work to ensure priorities are being completed each month and keep manager appraised of any issues with meeting established goals
  • Monitor and adjusts the workload among staff members in order to meet the established goals
  • Hold staff accountable for creating prompt, accurate and appropriate reserves by performing quality review.
  • Distribute special requests from the Third Party, Employer Services, Structured Settlement, Employers, Third Party Administrators, Fraud/Investigations and actuaries
  • Conduct hiring process. Develop and conduct interview, reference checks, review personnel files and write appointment package to make recommendation to hire.
  • Set clear performance goals, manage staff towards meeting goals, and assist in removing barriers (artificial or real) that affect attaining the goals.
  • Meet regularly with each employee and set expectations, provide feedback and coaching; prepare plans (or performance snapshots) for improvement when needed.
  • Conduct investigations of injuries and near misses to department staff, complete an incident report, and report to manager.
  • Conduct complex analysis of the claim and investigative file, weighing of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence, and the credibility of witness statements.
  • Determine the amount of fraud overpayments and penalties to assess against the benefit recipient and issues the legal order communicating this information to the benefit recipient.
  • Serve as a technical expert and professional resource for workers compensation adjudicators and others.
  • Act as a professional resource and provide knowledge of work processes

Required:

  • Successful completion of the Department of Labor and Industries Workers Compensation Adjudicator 2 Apprenticeship program AND one year of experience as a Workers Compensation Adjudicator 5.

OR

  • Five years of experience in adjudicating workers or crime victims compensation insurance claims, or adjudication of time loss payments.

OR

  • Equivalent education/experience.

Desired:

  • Two years experience as a Workers Compensation Adjudicator 4 with experience testifying, negotiating and settling cases.
