Full Time Hot Springs, AR, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 1018 The Liaison Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between Engineering, Operations, Quality, and the external FAA DERs, resolving real-time shop-floor issues and developing repair workscopes for complex aircraft structures and nacelle components. This role evaluates damage, defines repair limits, prepares and presents engineering data packages to DERs for 8110-3 approval, and supports return-to-service decisions. The Liaison Engineer also performs reverse engineering using dimensional inspection, CAD modeling, and material analysis to support DER repairs, PMA alternatives, and fabricated details. In parallel, the role drives cost-reduction and turnaround-time improvements by optimizing repair processes, reducing scrap, clarifying workscopes, and enabling efficient shop execution . Essential Job Functions: Act as the primary technical liaison between Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and FAA DERs Evaluate shop-floor damage on hardware and determine repair vs. replacement disposition Develop and present repair workscopes and technical data packages to external contracted DERs for 8110-3 approval Resolve real-time production and inspection issues to support return-to-service decisions Perform reverse engineering using dimensional inspection, CAD modeling, and material analysis Develop drawings, specifications, and repair data for fabricated details, DER repairs, and PMA alternatives Support tooling, fixture, and process development as required Identify cost-reduction opportunities through improved repairs, material substitutions, and make-vs-buy analysis Reduce scrap and rework by clarifying workscopes, repair limits, and engineering instructions Improve turnaround time through process optimization and engineered solutions Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145, Part 43, and approved repair data requirements Maintain configuration control and support engineering change documentation Provide hands-on engineering support during teardown, inspection, and assembly Support audits, customer technical reviews, and regulatory findings Train mechanics and inspectors on repair limits, new repairs, and engineering requirements Ensure that all DER workscopes are properly documented within repair station guidelines Identify repetitive trends in repair workscopes where a repair specification should be developed to provide technical coverage that can be used on an ongoing basis. Develop the repair specification and implement to streamline operations. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent technical experience Minimum 8–10 years of aviation engineering experience Strong knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations and MRO engineering processes Experience supporting aircraft or component maintenance, repairs, and modifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills Physical and Work Condition Requirements: This job may have physical requirements that are considered sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity and occasional lifting to 15 pounds.
