Salary: $19.28 HourlyLocation : KY 40202, KYJob Type: Part_TimeJob Number: 11316Department: LibraryOpening Date: 09/21/2023Closing Date: ContinuousDescriptionEssential Functions:Assists patrons and completes special projectsAssists patrons with locating and using library materials in all formatsPlans and conducts programs, outreach and training for patrons and staffLeads Library Clerks L/U and Library Pages L/UProvides high quality customer serviceExamples of DutiesExamples of Work:UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISIONAssists patrons in selecting, locating, and using library materials and resources including technologyProvides suggestions regarding book selectionsDrives and works on BookmobilePresents information to community groups and schools, and directs tours of the libraryPrepares new library materials for circulation and referenceAssists with collection maintenancePlans and conducts programs and training for patrons and staffLeads, trains and assigns tasks to pages and clerksPerforms Library Page L/U and Library Clerk L/U duties as requiredPerforms related workMinimum RequirementsPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related workCommunicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication mediaTravels to various locationsSpends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping, squatting and climbingReviews information in both print and electronic formatsFrequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 poundsOperates office and computer equipment and other technologyMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degreeOther Minimums:Must possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseMust work a varied scheduleMust hold appropriate certification from the State of Kentucky (KRS 171.250) within 30 days of employmentEquivalency:An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substitutedSupplemental InformationDesirables:Experience in Children's or Teen's Services Library unit desirableKnowledge of Children's or Teen's LiteratureLouisville Metro Government is committed to providing our employees with the tools they need to lead a fit and healthy life.
