JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Ronald H. Roberts Temecula Public Library in Temecula, California is seeking a full-time Library Associate 2. If you have a passion for customer service and serving the public, we would love for you to take this opportunity to apply. The Library Associate 2 performs a variety of moderately complex technical and physical duties in the Circulation Department under the direction of management. You will also greet library patrons entering the library and provide them with excellent customer service.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

• Provides customer service by welcoming and registering patrons, issuing library cards, checking out materials and managing patron accounts

• Assists patrons with locating materials (referring them to the reference desk as needed), using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)

• Checks in and processes library materials as necessary

• Accepts and processes fines, fees, or other payments

• Provides information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc.

• Shelves library materials

• Addresses or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management

• Follows all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.

• Possess proficient computer and technology skills.

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below, and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required:

• H.S. Diploma or GED

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task is required

• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with other staff as a team and with a diverse population

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Spanish language and/or sign language ability a plus

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that include a combination of days, evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.

• Ability to stand for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.

Benefits

Hours Per Week: 40

Hourly Rate: $16.00
