JOB DESCRIPTION:

Prince William Public Libraries is seeking an energetic, adaptable, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Page. You will work independently, and as part of a team, to ensure materials are accurately shelved and easily accessible for patrons and staff.The Library Page position is physical in nature with long periods of standing, stooping, and bending while lifting, sorting, and relocating substantial quantities of books and materials, some of which may weigh up to 20 lbs. Join our dynamic team at the Haymarket Gainesville Library in Haymarket, Virginia, and become an integral part of our library system.

About This Role:

  • Shelve materials accurately and maintain a neat presentation of the librarys collection.
  • Perform page opening/closing duties.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Create and maintain displays to highlight the librarys collection.
  • Attend training and may assist in training incoming staff.
  • May process U.S. passport applications by becoming a certified passport agent, if eligible.
Minimum Requirements:

8th grade education. Must be at least 16 years old.

Preferences:The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System.
  • Accurately file, both alphabetically and numerically.
  • Scheduling flexibility.
  • Knowledge of Library Integrated System (for example, Polaris).
  • Knowledge of Office 365, SharePoint, WebEx.
  • Prior filing or inventory experience.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
Special Requirements:

The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.

Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, non-exempt 20 hour a week position. Library hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends are a regular part of schedule rotations. Scheduling flexibility is imperative and may vary depending upon the needs of the library.

Starting Salary Range: $17.55/hr
