Nature of Work

Under supervision of the Special Services Director, the Library Services Technician, or Machine Coordinator, provides technical support and trouble-shooting for devices, technologies, and applications used by blind and print disabled patrons to access reading materials. Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with phone and email requests, acting as intermediary between the department and the National Library Service Machine Department, monthly and annual reporting, device teaching and training, and department outreach. This position requires advanced oral and written communication skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads, accuracy, and exceptional organizational skills. Particularly needed is a lifelong learner - someone highly adaptable to advances and changes in technology as more of the department transitions to digital applications. Other duties may be assigned as needed in assistance of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Graduation from an accredited college or university.

Substitution: Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience directly related to the areas of assignment may substitute for the required training on a year for year basis. Areas of assignment include radio broadcasting and office automation.
OR
Possession of a two year degree in electronics or computer science may substitute for two years of experience.
