Job Summary:
Licensed mental health clinicians provide and coordinate the mental health, social, emotional, and behavioral services to promote student well-being.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE, TRAUMA-INFORMED MENTAL HEALTH MODEL
    1. Coordinate the resources dedicated to students' mental health and well-being to ensure full integration and equitable distribution of social-emotional services in school.
    2. Advocate for equitable distribution of services in schools.
    3. Maintain excellent, electronic documentation to create a seamless system of coordinated student care.
      1. Ensure documentation is consistent, accurate, and up-to-date.
      2. Provide recommended documentation for grade level, internal and external transfer.
    4. Implement intervention strategies consistent with evidence-based best practices, including direct and/or group therapeutic services, staff support, and classroom strategies.
    5. Monitor coordination of service progress and adjust services as needed.
    6. Participate in regular clinical peer consultation.
    7. Collaborate with family and community resources to provide comprehensive mental health services to the whole child.
2. WORK AS PART OF A TEAM TO ADDRESS THE SOCIAL/ EMOTIONAL, BEHAVIORAL, AND MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF THE STUDENT
  1. Attend and participate in meetings such as multi-tiered systems of support, individual education plans/504, professional learning communities, best-interest determination, student In transition, re-entry, and parent-teacher conferences.
  2. Consult, educate, and support staff (i.e., administrative, counseling, teaching, etc.) regarding intervention, strategies, disciplinary approaches, and re-entry for identified students.
  3. Provide wrap-around support(s) for students, including other professional services inside and outside of the district.
  4. Partner with families to provide appropriate referrals regarding additional services and resources.
3. PROVIDE SYSTEM SUPPORT TO THE DISTRICT
  1. Provide knowledge and expertise of evidence-based and best practice programs consistent with identified student/community needs.
  2. Coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to support students and families through internal processes such as student in transition, 504 plans, Alternative Discipline Center, disciplinary hearings, and Homebound services.
  3. Assist buildings with crisis intervention, assessment, and services as requested and needed.
  4. Provide other relevant services as superintendents, district leaders, and building administrators requested.
4. DEMONSTRATE PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR IN THE WORK SETTING
  1. Candidates will abide by their professional code of ethics.
  2. Comply with Board, building, and Title IX policies.
  3. Model evidence-based culturally responsive approaches.
  4. Keep appropriate information confidential regarding students, families, and staff in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA.
  5. Respond to administrative requests in a timely manner.
  6. Engage in relevant continuing education to maintain an active clinical license.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  • A valid license issued by the Missouri State Board of Social Work LCSW, Board of Professional Counselors LPC, or Missouri State Committee of Psychologists as a licensed psychologist.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, family dynamics, various therapeutic modalities, dialectical skills, and evidence-based interventions, plus a workable knowledge of school law, policies, and special education. Current awareness of mental health disorders and challenges facing students.
  • Skilled at individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, conducting individual and/or family assessments, and collaborating with other professionals within and outside of the school district. Ability to partner and relate effectively with students, their families, and all school faculty.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed principles, including the ability to articulate best SEL practices and alternatives to exclusionary discipline, including restorative school practices.
Experience
  • Previous experience in counseling/social work with school-age students. Work experience in a school setting is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Able to move in and around district buildings and campus locations.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; clearly communicate orally and in writing. Interact with a wide variety of persons in a challenging setting.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Typical office conditions within a school setting
