Novellis Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated team in our outpatient medical oncology/hematology private practice. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care, supporting the medical team, and ensuring a positive experience for our patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses under physician supervision.
- Assess and monitor patients throughout their therapy, utilizing appropriate technical skills and clinical judgment.
- Prepare and administer injections, oral and IV medications, and document all medications per physician orders.
- Perform basic laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, specimen collection, and EKGs.
- Maintain and monitor vascular access devices; administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and perform therapeutic phlebotomy as needed.
- Assess and manage patient symptoms and treatment side effects, collaborating with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
- Triage patient and family phone calls, documenting all relevant information in the electronic medical record.
- Assess patient and family needs, providing education and support as appropriate.
- Participate in ongoing collaboration and communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient treatment plans.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Current and valid New York State LPN license.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient oncology setting preferred.
- Proficient in IV insertion, medication administration, and basic laboratory skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
