LPNs needed for varying shifts and schedules to join our team at Southern Springs Health Care in Union Springs, AL. We are easily accessible from Montgomery, Auburn, Tuskegee, Eufaula and Troy. If interested, please call us!

GENERAL PURPOSE:

To assess, make recommendations, provide treatments and documentation related to wounds. In addition, training other clinical staff about wound care; preventive measures; and providing updates as indicated to pertinent clinical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the State of Alabama or in training to satisfactorily complete the requirements to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Completion of secondary education or otherwise show ability to read and write in a legible and understandable manner.
  4. Must speak and understand English.
  5. Previous supervisory experience or completion of appropriate training program.
  6. Positive attitude toward the elderly.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Nursing Care Functions

    1. Assess new admissions upon admission for skin and/or wound status.
    2. Provide appropriate documentation including location; stage; description; recommendations for treatment.
    3. Contact Attending Physician for orders as needed.
    4. Admit, transfer and discharge residents as necessary
    5. Provide written and oral reports to Director of Nursing concerning status of wounds, surgical sites, etc. and other problem areas as indicated.
    6. Assist in developing and implementing corrective actions as necessary
    7. Monitor treatment to ensure residents are receiving proper care
    8. Ensure cleanliness and safety of all nursing service treatment areas
    9. Make rounds with physicians as necessary and ensure proper record keeping
    10. Consult with physician in providing incidents and changes in condition
    11. Meet with residents and families and report problems areas
    12. Administer professional services and provide direct nursing care as necessary
    13. Assist in arranging transportation for discharged residents
    14. Work with Director or Nurse's and other R.N. Supervisors on specialty bed/mattress management and other treatments that may require rentals - i.e. wound vac

  2. Drug Administration Functions

    1. Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician
    2. Review medication cards for completeness accuracy and adherences
    3. Notify physicians of stop orders prior to the last dosage being administered
    4. Verify resident identities to ensure prescribed medications are administered to the proper residents
    5. Ensure that narcotic records are accurate and notify the Director of Nursing of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on the shift
    6. Ensure proper disposal of drugs and narcotics
    7. Order prescribed medication, supplies and equipment as necessary
    8. Ensure that adequate levels of medications, supplies and equipment are available at all times, reporting needs to the Director of Nursing.
