Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care and Monitoring:
- Provide basic nursing care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility.
- Monitor and document vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Observe and report changes in patients' conditions or behaviors to the supervising RN or physician.
- Medication Administration:
- Administer prescribed medications, including oral, topical, and injectable drugs, under supervision.
- Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings promptly.
- Wound Care and Treatments:
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and basic first aid.
- Monitor wounds for signs of infection and document healing progress.
- Patient Education and Advocacy:
- Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and post-discharge instructions.
- Advocate for patients' needs, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety.
- Documentation and Charting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) systems to document care.
- Assistance with Medical Procedures:
- Prepare patients for exams, treatments, or surgeries by ensuring they are informed and comfortable.
- Assist physicians and RNs during procedures by providing instruments and patient support.
- Infection Control and Hygiene Maintenance:
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized care environment, ensuring patient safety.
- Collaborative Care:
- Work closely with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated care.
- Communicate effectively within the care team to address patient needs promptly.
- Support for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):
- Assist patients with daily living tasks, such as toileting, grooming, and eating.
- Encourage patient independence while providing necessary support.
- Emergency Response:
- Provide basic life support (BLS) during emergencies, such as CPR or first aid, until advanced medical care arrives.
- Recognize signs of patient distress and escalate care appropriately.
- Supervision and Training:
- Oversee Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other unlicensed staff, providing guidance and feedback.
- Participate in orientation and training programs for new staff members.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments, assist with admissions, and facilitate discharge processes.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification in California (don't leave home without it!).
- Hospital experience is a plus, but we're happy to train enthusiastic LVN who love to learn.
- Excellent communication skills-extra points if you can throw in a great dad joke!
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (but don't worry, no capes required).

Pay: $67.00 - $73.00 per hour (plus, we promise it'll come with good vibes!)
