Job Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, interviews visitors regarding complaints and liquor licensing requirements; answers basic questions regarding Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) rules and regulations which concern the Licensing Act; reviews, approves and issues Illinois Liquor licenses; reviews and approves brand registrations; assists with ILCC filing assignments; prepares reports on work performed.

  • Responds to visitors queries regarding the ILCC licensing operations for all licensing categories which will include manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers and not for profit organizations regarding compliance rules and regulations and licensing procedures. Answers basic questions posed by the general public regarding ILCC procedures, rules, statutes and services. Prepares working statements on each complaint in order for the Commission to take necessary action.
  • Reviews, approves and issues Illinois Liquor licenses for the three tiers of the alcohol beverage industry using established guidelines for manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers and not for profit organizations.
  • Reviews and approves brand registrations for manufacturers, importers and distributors; reviews applicants license to ensure that all is still valid; reviews and approves label revisions, withdrawal statements, new label registrations and additions, label revisions, new distributor appointments, and new territory assignment; reviews paperwork to ensure that all necessary information has been provided and that the registration/application has been signed and completed; prepares correspondence in instances where there is an issue with the registrations/application; refers more complex issues to supervisor.
  • Receives, sorts, opens and distributes agencys incoming mail. Collaborates in the preparation of the office outgoing mail; performs general office assignments including filing and maintaining the office; prepares reports on work performed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers one (1) year of experience explaining and interpreting simple statutory requirements, rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Prefers one (1) year of experience maintaining satisfactory working relationships with other employees, outside agencies and the public.
  • Prefers one (1) year of experience operating a PC.

Employment Conditions

  • Requires the ability to pass the ILCC background check.
  • Requires the ability to work overtime.
  • As a condition of employment, you cannot have been convicted of any violation of any Federal or State law concerning the manufacture or sale of alcoholic liquor.
  • As a condition of employment, you and your immediate family member cannot directly or indirectly, individually or as a member of a partnership, or as a shareholder of a corporation, have any interest whatsoever in the manufacture, sale or distribution of alcoholic liquor within the last 12 months.
  • As a condition of employment, you or your immediate family member may not receive any compensation or profit, nor have any interest whatsoever in the purchases or sales made by the persons authorized to purchase or to sell alcoholic liquor within the last 12 months
