The Role at a Glance
As a Life Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation, interpretation, and payment or denial of life claims. You will leverage sound and impartial claim judgments by following established best practices as well as key policy provisions. You will have overall responsibility for managing life claims in an ethical manner, ensuring quality decisions, accurate benefit calculations, and timely, proactive communication with beneficiaries, claimants, and employers. You will be expected to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction and meet defined standards of performance to include but not limited to time service, response time, productivity, and quality.
What you'll be doing

  • You will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation, interpretation, and determination of life claims with sound and impartial claim judgments based on contract language and policy provisions.
  • You will complete accurate financial calculations consistent with company and state guidelines.
  • Provides a diverse range of information and performs a diverse range of tasks/transactions related to common programs and services.
  • You will review increasingly complex medical records/information and effectively leverages a variety of internal/external tools & resources to understand medical terminology, duration, functionality, documentation, organization, and overall claims workflow.
  • You will obtain increasingly complex information needed (e.g. financial and medical records, etc.) to make claim determinations and accurately calculate more complex benefits, seeks second-level review as needed.
  • You will conduct initial and ongoing claimant interviews and appropriately updates claim file/documentation.
  • You will identify benefit discrepancies and complete more complex adjustments as needed.
  • You will review increasingly complex submitted claim information for payment.
  • You will ensure the accuracy and completeness of submitted claims.
  • You will escalate claims issues/concerns to senior team members and/or management.

  • High School or GED (Minimum Required)
  • 2 - 3 Years of claims experience directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this position (Required)

Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience with Life Claims
  • Strong mathematical skills for payment calculations

Pay Range: $22.84 - $28.85

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincolns total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincolns standard benefits package.
