About the Role This position is a key contributor within the Berkley Life Sciences organization, responsible for supporting new business production and servicing of Emerging Account business for an assigned group of producers while fostering strong producer partnerships and supporting overall growth. Responsibilities Support new business production and servicing of Emerging Account business for assigned producers. Build strong relationships with brokers through service excellence to meet financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business. Sollicit accounts, perform risk selection and analysis, prepare documentation, price and market Berkley Life Sciences products and services. Contribute to the team’s business development results for assigned producers. Identify opportunities for account rounding. Provide technical support to producers and insureds. Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes. Demonstrate continuous learning through underwriting training and life sciences industry education. Collaborate effectively with underwriting teammates, operations, legal, home office underwriting and claims. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Exceptional oral and written communication skills with flexible communication style. Calm under pressure, excellent organizational skills, integrity, and strong follow‑through on tasks. Strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure. Proven track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships with insureds, agents, and brokers. Strong customer‑service bias, highly responsive, and capable of preserving relationships while saying no when necessary. Natural curiosity and love for learning and innovative improvement. Analytical mind, adept at diving into account details to craft pricing and coverage that meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models, and customer needs. Minimum of two years of underwriting or associate underwriting experience in products liability, property, workers’ compensation, automobile and umbrella. Claims‑made experience a plus. Life Sciences Products Liability experience a plus. Travel opportunities, primarily to build relationships with assigned producers. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $70,000 – $105,000. Eligible to participate in an annual discretionary bonus. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness programs, paid time off, 401(k) and profit‑sharing plans. Location & Travel Primary location: Ewing, NJ. Additional locations: Naperville, IL; Boston, MA. Travel: Opportunities to build relationships with assigned producers.
