Description:

As a NetFire Systems Technician you will be primarily responsible for deploying systems/infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving issues, assisting Systems Engineering, and maintaining a healthy infrastructure and supporting systems.

On-call 24/7 is required as a part of this role.


Responsibilities:

· Systems Management: A critical responsibility is day to day oversight of the management of systems both including our infrastructure systems and customer hosts in our cloud environment. This includes managing monitoring systems and ensuring that all systems are effectively monitored for failures and issues, ensuring that backups are kept up to date, identifying performance problems and resolving them, and tracking larger issues.

· Escalation: It is not required or expected for any one person to know everything about how NetFire systems operate. While various systems should have documentation, we encourage escalation to a Systems Engineer if you need clarification or at your limits of knowledge or experience.

· Documentation: The technician should become familiar with, review, and propose modifications to documentation where appropriate.

Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Degree in IT-related field and/or certifications are a bonus but not required.


Experience:

Required:

- Minimum 2 years experience of general or relevant specialized focus in a system operations role

- Experience with multiple *NIX/Linux systems (RHEL-based prioritized, Debian-based a plus)

- Experience with KVM/QEMU

- Experience with Nginx


Desired (In addition to above Required experience):

· Beginner to intermediate experience with at least one of the following languages in a tooling-related context:

o Golang

o Python

o Rust

o Bash

o Lua

· Experience with managing Libvirt VMs

· Experience with basic LDAP concepts


Other Requirements:

· Must have a strong interest in technology.

· Must have strong problem-solving mindset.

· Must be able to work independently and be a team player.

· Must be able to multi-task efficiently.

· Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.

· Must have strong written and verbal English skills and be able to write technical documentation.

· Must be extremely detail oriented and well organized.

· Must be able to interact positively with coworkers and customers.
