Job Description:
Our client's Orange County office is seeking a highly experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced law firm environment. This role is primarily litigation support focused, offering variety in day-to-day responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, tech-savvy, with strong litigation experience and the ability to handle a heavy workload. Please note: this position does require paralegal work and billable hour requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and enjoys supporting attorneys across a range of matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, edit, format, and proofread a wide range of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery, contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
- File and e-file documents in state and federal courts and with regulatory or corporate entities, ensuring compliance with applicable rules.
- Manage complex calendars, including litigation deadlines, hearings, closings, meetings, and travel.
- Maintain and organize both litigation case files and records (electronic and physical).
- Coordinate communication with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and external parties.
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
- Assist with time entries, billing reports, and other administrative tasks.
- Support multiple attorneys simultaneously while managing competing priorities.
- Accurately record and bill time in accordance with firm policies
- Effectively use tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, CLIO, Adobe Acrobat, and e-signature platforms (DocuSign, CLIO, Adobe).
Qualifications:
- Experience as a legal assistant in litigation
- Paralegal certificate required; ability to bill paralegal time
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court rules, procedures, and deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, time-management, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and reliability.
- Experience supporting a team of attorneys (this role will have you working with two partners and a part-time attorney).
- Familiarity with legal billing and time entry software.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn new skills.
- Comfortable working in office in a collaborative team environment (after 90 days remote once a week)
