The Opportunity

A reputable law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking a friendly, responsive, and experienced Litigation Secretary to provide direct support to attorneys. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess strong communication and computer skills.

This role is essential to maintaining smooth legal operations within the firm and requires a professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $30.00 $38.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Work Schedule

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform secretarial and administrative duties in support of assigned attorneys.

  • Create and maintain legal files, records, and reports.

  • Prepare documents and assist with trial preparation.

  • Draft and format pleadings, tables of authorities, and tables of contents.

  • Manage daily mail, phone calls, and emails for attorneys.

  • Draft routine correspondence and legal documents for attorney review.

  • Schedule appointments, depositions, hearings, and client meetings.

  • Greet and assist clients professionally upon arrival.

  • Maintain attorney calendars and track deadlines and court dates.

  • Coordinate travel arrangements, hotel bookings, and event registrations.

  • Conduct conflict checks and open new client/matter files.

  • Prepare and perfect documents for court filing, including e-filing.

  • Provide occasional coverage and support to other legal staff as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; completion of two years of college or vocational school preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience, including at least 3 years as a litigation secretary or paralegal in a law office or related setting.

  • Exceptional spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (beginner to intermediate).

  • Strong knowledge of basic office equipment (copiers, scanners, printers, phones).

  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (files and office supplies).

  • Team-oriented attitude with professionalism and a strong sense of confidentiality
