Position Overview
Driving support for the 5-day white water river trek program by loading, transporting, unloading, cleaning, and stocking of gear, staff, and participants with a vehicle and/or trailer.
Key Responsibilities
- Support 5-day whitewater treks with vehicle and trailer driving gear, staff, and guests to and from river
- Load and unload gear, staff, and guests to and from river
- Assist in cleaning, packing, and inventory of gear needed for trek
- Maintain trek equipment in an organized and good working condition
- Ensure safety and quality standards remain at the highest levels
- Backup truck trailer in reverse over 200 feet with turns.
- Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
- Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
- Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18+
- Required: Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Summit Driving permit.
- Required: Experience driving and backing loaded flatbed trailers.
- Preferred: Commercial Driver License
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
Physical & Practical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, hike, and drive and up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
- Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45 - 55
