Job Description. The Logistics Manager will centralize and lead the planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of all logistics-related functions across the company — including but not limited to dispatch, warehousing, shipping/receiving, inventory, procurement interfaces, transportation coordination, maintenance interface, and compliance. This role will govern how logistics work is done through policy, process standards, performance metrics, and cross-functional alignment to support operational excellence, continuous improvement, and long-term customer service performance.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and integrate logistics functions across dispatch, warehouse operations, fleet positioning, receiving/shipping, inventory control, and procurement liaising.
  • Define goals, KPIs, standards and service levels for logistics performance and customer delivery expectations.
  • Create and manage centralized logistics policies, SOPs, workflows, and continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with Dispatch, Warehouse Leads, Procurement, Transportation/DOT team, and Maintenance to ensure alignment of planning, resource availability, and execution performance.
  • Drive clear governance for inbound/outbound processes, staging and equipment readiness, parts and tooling availability, and job site logistics sequencing.

 

Performance, Reporting & Analysis

 

  • Develop regular reporting on utilization, delivery performance, cost drivers, inventory accuracy, on-time performance, and resource allocation that drives operational decisions and enhances efficiency.
  • Partner with finance/operations to monitor cost, process bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation or standardization.

 

Compliance & Risk Management

 

  • Ensure logistics processes align with relevant transportation, safety, and warehouse regulatory requirements (including DOT/safety coordination) and is executable consistently in a decentralized, distributed environment.
  • Promote and enforce safety, security, and quality standards in all logistics activities; reduce risk to customer service and the business by improving compliance, asset/equipment utilization, and responsiveness.

 

Team Development & Influence

 

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and structure to logistics-related roles (warehouse supervisors, dispatch coordinators, inventory specialists).
  • Serve as a key liaison with senior leadership on capacity planning, business growth enablement, and logistics resource investment.

 

Core Duties & Activities

 

  • Centralize forecasting for people/equipment needs and align with dispatch and customer demand.
  • Standardize receiving/shipping processes and documentation across sites.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, parts/inventory storage systems, and replenishment planning.
  • Lead vendor/carrier management and rate negotiations where relevant.
  • Evaluate logistics technologies, WMS/TMS systems, and tools to improve visibility and accuracy.
  • Facilitate cross-site logistics consistency and continuous improvement frameworks.
