Purpose Of Position Manage all physical aspects of alarm/ low voltage systems, internet communications, and other miscellaneous on-farm technologies at production sites while working directly with office IT staff and production personnel to ensure these systems are up and running optimally at all times. Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities Install and maintain alarm/ low voltage systems at sites. Install and maintain internet communications at sites. Perform preventative maintenance of these systems at sites. Communicate and collaborate with other field technicians. Communicate and collaborate with sites and end users. Maintain ticket system queue in a timely manner. Act in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a systematic approach to decision making. Identify the important dimensions of a problem, determine potential causes, obtain relevant information, and specify alternate solutions that result in effectiveness. Influence the actions and opinions of others in the desired direction; exhibit judgment in leading others to worthwhile objectives. Create positive energy in both individuals and groups to build high morale and group commitments to goals and objectives. Establish and pursue specific courses of action for self and/or groups by organizing and prioritizing tasks. Demonstrate sound time-management skills by effectively and efficiently organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple assignments in a timely manner. Able to interpret verbal and nonverbal behavior, to develop accurate understanding of others’ needs, values, and opinions. Continuously seek and accept opportunities for personal and professional growth. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Company Expectations Adhere to Iowa Select Farms bio‑security policy at all times, including reporting any violations or concerns to the management team. Comply with Iowa Select Farms safety policies and procedures, including continuous education to maintain a safe work environment. Follow Iowa Select Farms animal well‑being policy at all times and partner with the Production Well‑Being team in a timely manner if an incident occurs. Work Environment The environment of this position will change daily pending weekly schedule. This position will have duties in all facilities of Iowa Select Farms so the employee must be comfortable working in and being exposed to all facility environments. This position may require some tasks to be performed in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The workplace may have nuisance levels of gases and dust, particularly in the winter months. Physicality Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Ability to climb ladders and work on roofs safely up to 9 feet in height. The employee must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or working with an employee locally or via phone. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position that will require a minimum of 40 hours per week. Expected days and hours of operation include day‑shift hours Monday‑Friday. Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges. Travel Regular travel will be required for this position, which entails the utilization of a company vehicle. Education, Experience and Other Qualifications 2+ years of successful related experience Low Voltage systems Digital multi‑meters Basic knowledge of electrical components such as breakers, relays, switches, and other control devices. Basic knowledge in network devices: point‑to‑point devices, modems, cameras, switches, routers, and UPS systems. Basic knowledge needed to install, replace, and troubleshoot fleet GPS tracking units. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word. Willingness to train on the use of underground wiring locater and trencher for the installation of underground wire.
