Working title: Loader Operator
Pay range: 18-23XX depending on experience
NTE Bill rate: 25.66-32.78 depending on pay rate
Shift: 6am-4:30pm Monday- Friday. Occasional 1/2 day on Saturday

Needs to be fully cleared before starting

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Primary duties of a Loader Operator:
o Responsible for feeding the baler infeed belt; keeping the baler running with material - no black-belt
o Responsible for feeding the sort line metering bin; keeping the sort line running with material
o Responsible for keeping piles pushed up and managed
o Responsible for keeping bay doors/ramps open and clear of debris
o Responsible for transferring loose material
o Keeping the sort line outfeed areas free of back-ups
o Receiving loose loads of material
o Executing housekeeping duties
o Participation in the environmental, health, and safety programs of WestRock.
o Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
General Responsibilities
o Operating the loader as trained, assessed, and according to operators manual
o Keeping belts full of material with a level load. If feed a sort line, keeping the area in front of the metering bin wall free of built up material. Utilizing the full vertical extension of the load bucket arms to get close to, but not touching the metering bin wall. Dumping the entire bucket of material into the bin filling from right to left.
o Monitoring the material for contaminants; removing as needed
o Organizing the work area (tip floor) to keep materials separate by grade and allow material drop offs by customers to be completed in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
o Communicate and work with the baler concerning changes in material flow (material, wet, size differences, heavy flow, grade changes, etc.). Let baler operator know what is coming to help minimize bale problems.
o Communicate and work with other loader operators, lift truck operators, and pedestrians due to shared workspace and responsibilities.
o Monitor customer movement in tipping areas, docks, and in plant to maximize safe conditions for both employees and customers
o Paperwork as required
Maintenance Responsibilities:
o Daily maintenance check performed, paperwork filled, signed-off out and turned in.
o Operator must blow out or vacuum the engine, radiator, and intake filters daily, and is responsible for cleanliness of the cab and windows. If cleaning materials are needed see maintenance or supervisor.
o Equipment breakage or in need of repair fill out a maintenance request form and contact maintenance. If breakage is a safety issues, STOP until assessed.
o Daily PM maximum time should be 20 minutes on the Cat 914-930 sized unit; slightly less for smaller loaders (Cat 908, skid-steer sized loaders).
Housekeeping Responsibilities:
o Tip floor areas, pushing up material bunkers, and maintaining a travel lane for delivered customers, assisting with yard organizational and cleanliness
PPE Requirements:
o Hard hat (out of loader)
o Hearing protection
o Eye protection
o Hi-Vis upper garment/vest
o Gloves (relative to task)
o Safety shoes/boots with puncture resistant soles or inserts
o Dust mask (optional)
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Ability to meet physical demands below (or accommodated demands)
o Ability to communicate task and safety information appropriately
o Completion of a WestRock Loader Operator Training program (written materials)
o Completion of on-the-job-training for equipment specific tasks, with any corresponding documentation
o Documented assessment by a certified training instructor
