POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans, organizes, and controls fabrication. Promotes, develops, and implements measures to achieve cost-effective improvements in fabrications to increase productivity, and ensure compliance with policies, regulations and procedures.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure most effective utilization of staff and equipment in order to efficiently meet production needs.
  • Achieve production targets at desired level of quality standard.
  • Control fabrication activities and initiate responsive measures.
  • Review all accidents with manufacturing manager and implement corrective actions for future improvements.
  • Anticipate and introduce timely, effective actions to resolve problems
  • Ensure that fabrication areas are maintained and clean.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) six months of related experience or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are seeking a Machine Shop Operator to work independently as well as part of our team to set-up and operate manual lathe, manual milling machines, spot-welding equipment, computer-controlled milling machine, grinders, sanders and inspect own work. Knowledge of plastic and metal fabrication, plus assembly of small and large volume parts with epoxy adhesive is essential. Experience with repetitive operations over the course of several days is essential

  • Knowledge of basic math and geometry.
  • Must understand blueprints and work instructions.
  • Must be skilled in using stationary power tools such as drill presses, milling machines, lathes, band saws, breaks, routers and multi-ton presses.
  • Must be skilled in using hand tools and small power tools.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work effectively in a team environment.
  • Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment and schedules; must be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK CONTACTS:

This position is in contact with purchasing, manufacturing and quality.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to grasp and pull machinery parts and controls.

Must be able to make machinery adjustment by using hand or mallet to hammer, tighten and loosen levers when necessary. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


SAFETY:

Must have the physical ability to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

  • Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as clothing, gloves, goggles, and safety masks or other garments or equipment to protect the employee’s body from injury or infection as required.
  • Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Magnetika employee health and wellbeing programs.
  • Notifies manager and Human Resources of any job-related injuries or illnesses.
  • Inspect materials, manufacturing area and safety equipment to find and correct potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Ensure the safe use of chemicals, is aware of the location of MSDS binder (Material Safety Data Sheet) and is available when needed.
  • Ensure tools being used are in good condition and safe to use.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works throughout the premises as needed. Work environments may have noise levels ranging from high to quiet.
