We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Machinist! This role is based in our molding facility in Pineville, NC and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic individual with a keen eye to detail and a positive demeanor for this role. The ideal candidate has the ability to operate machine shop equipment for the purposes of supporting the pipe and fittings production departments with limited supervision. The successful candidate will focus on safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping and cost control to achieve plant goals.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices with accuracy.
  • Work with tolerances to .001” or smaller.
  • Read blueprints and work from sketches or verbal instructions. Apply shop mathematics and formulas daily.
  • Perform basic turning, milling, drilling, grinding. Mold tooling components.
  • Drive a forklift and operate overhead cranes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair water and pressure test water circuits.
  • Change basic mold components that are worn and determine if they need replacement. Repair, rebuild, and modify existing tooling.
  • Polish tooling, repair parting lines, and fix shutoffs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent with the ability to read, write, and do basic math; 2-year technical degree and/or 2 to 5 years equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in a plastics manufacturing environment strongly desired.
  • Prior machining experience (ideally with injection molds) or be currently taking machining course work.
  • Possession of machinist trade tools is highly preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing plant environment.
  • Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods (10+ hours), bending, climbing, and lifting up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • The use of hand tools, forklifts, overhead cranes.
  • Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required.
