The Senior Machinist performs precision machining and grinding operations using CNC machining centers. This role includes CNC machine setup, independent production operation, part inspection, and troubleshooting to maintain quality standards. The Senior Machinist also assists the Lead Machinist as needed, including helping assign tasks and supporting the development of other Machinists.

Hours:
All shift options available

  • Shift 15: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:00 PM
  • Shift 16: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–1:00 AM (+$1.25/hr shift differential)
  • Shift 21: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM (+$3.50/hr shift differential)

Hourly rate of pay: $20.14–$28.68 per hour base rate (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts
  • Perform part inspections and assist other Machinists as needed
  • Make machine offsets and replace tools as required
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Provide support to the Lead Machinist during absences
  • Assist in directing workflow and offering on‑the‑job training to Machinists
  • Communicate with Quality and other department Leads regarding inspections and production needs

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in math for measurements and calculations
  • High attention to detail for precision inspection
  • Mechanical aptitude for machine operation and troubleshooting
  • Basic computer skills for CNC data input and programming
  • Knowledge of CNC machines, tooling, and machining processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret geometric tolerancing
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools
  • 1–2 years of machining experience required
  • CNC Technology A.A.S preferred

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Lift up to 100lbs occasionally
  • Bend, reach, and handle parts throughout the shift
  • Frequent handling of parts and machine components
  • Use of hands for CNC setup, tool changes, and measuring
  • Required PPE: eye protection, hearing protection, MET guard safety shoes
