Job Description
SUMMARY
With minimal assistance or supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, facilities, and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and pipe. Maintains and protects all company assets. Performs the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains preventive maintenance program.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Observes equipment and mechanical devices in operation to detect malfunction and discusses variations with supervisor and other associates as needed to diagnose problems. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery and equipment. Experience repairing and troubleshooting problems with stamping presses.
- Ability to utilize PLC's to troubleshoot and repair control circuit malfunctions.
- Ability to utilize wiring schematics to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits.
- Troubleshoot and repair/replace pneumatic components on fixtures and dies.
- Ability to select correct sensor types for repair of die protection and weld fixtures.
- Not required, but would prefer some exposure to industrial robots.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Starts equipment to test performance.
- Operates cutting torch and welding equipment as required.
- Runs conduit and plumbing as directed.
- Constructs and repairs benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Prepares facility for new product lines.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- The ability to work overtime is required.
- The ability to work any shift is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Vocational or technical school or apprenticeship certification with a minimum of 4 years related experience in general equipment and facilities repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have knowledge and experience with mechanical and hydraulic presses, plumbing, welding, 480 volt electrical systems, hand and power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Must demonstrate safe working practices and familiarity with safety equipment necessary to perform jobs in a safe manner.
- Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and progress with advanced technology, requiring training, inside and outside the facility, and during and after work hours.
- Must be proficient in use of multimeters, amprobes, etc..
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to maintain and repair in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals, and manufacturers specifications. Ability to read and follow hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical blueprints and schematics.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

- Specific certificates, licenses or registrations may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; explosives; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Must have all tools required to effectively perform all aspects of job requirements.
