Heavy Equipment Maintenance & Parts Inventory Manager Primary Location: Locust Grove, GA Travel: Occasional travel to other company sites within 1-2 hoursI Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. | Saturday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Compensation: Salary, based on experience About the Role M&M Recycling is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance & Parts Inventory Manager to lead and oversee our company-wide maintenance program while also building, implementing, and managing a structured parts inventory and cost-control system . This role is based primarily at our Locust Grove, GA facility, with occasional travel to support maintenance operations at other locations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance within an industrial or scrap-metal environment and is capable of bringing structure, accountability, and financial visibility to both maintenance operations and parts management. This is a leadership role focused on planning, systems, and execution , not just reacting to breakdowns. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Program Leadership Oversee and continuously improve a formal preventive maintenance (PM) program for all company equipment, including fleet of trucks Develop and manage PM schedules, maintenance logs, and downtime tracking Prioritize repairs to minimize operational disruption and production downtime Establish consistent maintenance standards and expectations across all locations Equipment Oversight Responsible for maintenance strategy and oversight of: Industrial shredder systems (including primary shredders such as 3Tek Bravo) Cranes (material handlers, shear cranes, magnet and grapple cranes) Excavators Skid steers and loaders Balers and shears Forklifts Wire choppers and separation systems Conveyors and processing lines Yard trucks, roll-off trucks, trailers, and support vehicles Parts Inventory & Cost Control Design, implement, and manage a parts inventory system for all parts & items company wide Establish physical inventory controls , including organization, labeling, and secure storage Maintain accurate inventory counts for all items, parts & consumables Track parts usage, turnover, and reorder points Work closely with the Finance Department to support budgeting and forecasting for maintenance and parts, Provide costing data and usage reports, Assist with cost-control initiatives and variance tracking Team & Vendor Management Support internal mechanics, welders, and maintenance personnel by ensuring all parts and inventory are available when needed Coordinate and oversee external vendors, contractors, and OEM service providers Evaluate vendor performance, service quality, and responsiveness Collaborate in the scheduling of major repairs, rebuilds, and planned shutdowns Safety Knowledge & Best Practices Maintain a strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements related to equipment maintenance Ensure maintenance work is performed using safe procedures and required PPE Support compliance with company safety programs (LOTO, equipment guarding, contractor safety) in coordination with the Safety/Compliance team Required Experience & Qualifications 7-10+ years of heavy equipment maintenance experience 5+ years in a scrap metal recycling, shredding, or heavy industrial environment Prior hands‑on experience as a heavy equipment mechanic preferred Proven experience managing both people and vendors Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems Experience implementing or managing parts inventory systems in an industrial setting Ability to work cross‑functionally with finance, operations, and leadership Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills Valid driver's license Work Environment Industrial scrap yard and processing facility environment Regular exposure to heavy machinery, noise, dust, heat, and outdoor conditions Required use of PPE in operational areas Why M&M Recycling Family‑owned, growing scrap metal recycling company Large‑scale equipment and complex operations Leadership role with real authority and accountability Opportunity to build systems , not just maintain them Direct impact on uptime, cost control, and operational efficiency #J-18808-Ljbffr
