Job Title:
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (N)

Shift Schedule: 12:00 AM 8:30 AM, 3rd Shift, Wednesday through Sunday, (Monday & Tuesday off), Full-time, 40-hour work week with two permanent days off, overtime as required.

(One Month Training will begin on the projected start date. Monday Friday 8:00AM 4:30PM before transitioning into shift hours)

Starting Rate: $26.1380 PER HOUR / $54,366.9672 ANNUAL

JOB SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all airport buildings focusing on HVAC, electrical and plumbing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Repair and maintain physical facilities of the terminal. Assist other departmental personnel in the maintenance of building equipment whenever necessary.
  • Repair or replace commercial plumbing and electrical fixtures.
  • Clean and restore airport facilities as required or specified.
  • Snow removal operations and snow removal equipment maintenance.
  • Installation and repair of ceiling grid systems.
  • Repair and or rekey, re-pin commercial lockets.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and directed.
  • Adhere to all Authority personnel policies and departmental guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The following generally describes the knowledge, skills and abilities required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time to successfully perform the assigned duties.

  • Knowledge of practices, tools, and materials used in maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and sanitary equipment.
  • Knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge and ability to use power and hand tools.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Trade school or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

  • General building maintenance, building trades or HVAC, preferred.
  • One year of experience as a journeyman in plumbing, electrical or HVAC, preferred.
  • Locksmith experience, preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a valid drivers license and must meet NAA driving record requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as may be required by assigned job duties and responsibilities.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Motor vehicles, including snow removal equipment (snowplow and sand spreader), forklift 5K: aerial work platforms, extensive use of hand tools, power sewer snake, air compressors, field radio and hand radio.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS: Persons with disabilities may be able to perform the essential duties of this class with reasonable accommodation. The employee is required to bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, stand, and walk extensively. Employees must demonstrate the ability to perform these essential functions during their physical examinations.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposure to refrigerants, natural gas, high noise levels, high speed equipment, high voltage, acids and alkalis, extensive hours during snow removal, stripping, penetrating lubricants and other aerosol/liquid chemicals, compressed air.

DRIVING RECORD REQUIREMENTS: All drivers must be at least 21 years of age, licensed for at least 3 years, have the type of license required by their state for the vehicles operated and meet the following driving record standards.

  • License is active and NOT suspended.

  • Any employee or applicant who has been licensed in their state for less than 3 years must provide a copy of their previous driving record to Human Resources.

  • An employee or applicant may have a North Carolina or Virginia drivers license as long as they reside in that state.

  • An unacceptable\" DMV driving record includes the following violations during the most recent 3-year period:
  • Committing a Felony with a Motor Vehicle
  • DWI/DUI
  • Drug Offense
  • Eluding a Police Officer
  • Foreign citizens with no historical driving record available to us
  • Hit Run / Leaving the Scene of an accident
  • Lending an Operators License or Registration to Another
  • Open Container Violation
  • Passing a Stopped School Bus
  • Racing or Speed Contest Violation
  • Reckless Driving
  • Speeding 25 mph, or more, above speed limit
  • Suspended License History Drivers who have had 3 or more license suspensions as a result of moving violations
  • Temporary Operator's Permit
  • Two or more at fault accident convictions
  • Vehicle Manslaughter/Homicide
  • Three or more moving violations within the past 12 months
