Overview

Wright Technical Services is representing a leading advanced materials manufacturer seeking a highly experienced Maintenance / Operations Reliability Leader to support a critical plant performance initiative.

This role will lead efforts focused on improving maintenance reliability, optimizing operating practices, and removing production bottlenecks to help drive a targeted 15% increase in plant output. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position requiring strong on-site engagement and cross-functional collaboration across maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.

The assignment is expected to last approximately 9 months to 1 year and will play a key role in stabilizing and improving plant performance in several high-impact production areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance reliability initiatives to improve equipment uptime and operational efficiency
  • Evaluate and optimize current operating practices to support increased production throughput
  • Maintain strong plant-floor presence and participate in daily production and operations meetings
  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs and develop new PM strategies where needed
  • Track and analyze downtime, production loss, and maintenance performance metrics
  • Evaluate spare parts inventory strategy to ensure alignment with reliability goals and minimize downtime risk
  • Lead root cause failure analysis and corrective action implementation for major downtime events
  • Support daily plant operations by resolving real-time operational challenges (“blocking and tackling”)
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to eliminate bottlenecks and improve plant reliability
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and operational processes

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of maintenance experience, including leadership responsibility for maintenance teams or departments
  • Strong background in metals manufacturing, heavy industrial, or chemical processing environments
  • Proven success improving maintenance reliability, equipment uptime, and production performance
  • Strong root cause analysis experience (RCA, failure analysis, corrective action implementation)
  • Experience working closely with plant operations and production leadership
  • Strong data-driven decision-making and downtime analysis experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (Engineering, Technical, or related field), but equivalent operational leadership experience is highly valued
  • Must be able to work full-time on-site in Elmore, Ohio
