Maintenance PlannerThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for mining equipment and facilities. This role ensures that all maintenance work is planned efficiently to maximize equipment availability, improve reliability, and support safe mining operations. The Maintenance Planner works closely with maintenance supervisors, operations personnel, supply chain, and external vendors.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Planning & SchedulingDevelop detailed job plans, including labor requirements, tools, materials, and equipment needs for maintenance tasks.Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance schedules aligned with production requirements and priority work.Create, update, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.Maintain accurate work orders, job histories, and maintenance documentation within the CMMS (e.g., SAP, Pronto, EAM).Equipment Reliability & OptimizationAnalyze equipment performance data to identify trends, repeat failures, and opportunities for improvement.Collaborate with reliability engineers to enhance maintenance strategies and reduce unplanned downtime.Review failure reports and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment performance.Materials & Inventory CoordinationEnsure required parts, consumables, and tools are available for scheduled work.Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to track lead times and manage spare parts inventory.Source vendors and external service providers when required.Health, Safety & ComplianceEnsure planned work adheres to mine safety regulations and company safety standards.Prepare risk assessments, permits, and safe work instructions for maintenance activities.Support continuous improvement initiatives that promote a safe and efficient work environment.Collaboration & CommunicationCommunicate upcoming maintenance plans to supervisors, operators, and stakeholders.Lead planning meetings and provide updates on work status, constraints, and schedule changes.Build strong relationships with trades personnel to validate job plans and capture field feedback.Qualifications & ExperienceEducationTechnical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance (or equivalent experience).Maintenance planning certification (asset).Experience35 years of experience in a maintenance planner or similar role, preferably within the mining or heavy-industry sector.Hands-on experience with mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, loaders, crushers, conveyors, processing plants) is an advantage.Proficiency in CMMS software (SAP, Pronto, Oracle EAM, etc.).SkillsStrong knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance practices.Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
