Employment Type: Direct-Hire, Full-Time Permanent Position Position Summary Responsible for supervising hourly bargaining unit employees and coordinating daily maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations. This role oversees maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with company safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, reliability engineering, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and heavy industrial manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities Ensure the continuous and reliable operation of plant equipment by maintaining assets in optimal operating condition. Coordinate and execute maintenance activities based on approved maintenance work orders and established maintenance schedules. Maintain accurate maintenance records, including equipment history, preventive maintenance documentation, predictive maintenance data, and technical asset information. Manage the proper allocation and tracking of maintenance materials, spare parts, and labor costs within the appropriate work orders and cost centers. Support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and applicable environmental regulations. Assist Maintenance Specialists in developing and managing annual maintenance budgets and controlling maintenance expenditures. Monitor maintenance and operating costs and contribute to achieving budgetary goals through effective planning and execution of maintenance activities. Support the development and implementation of preventive, predictive, autonomous, and reliability-centered maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and improve asset performance. Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize production downtime while ensuring high-quality repairs and efficient use of labor and resources. Coordinate planned equipment outages and maintenance shutdowns to minimize operational disruptions and production losses. Collaborate with Maintenance Specialists and Planners to review maintenance schedules, work scope, resource requirements, and estimated durations before execution. Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance work practices to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve equipment reliability. Minimize non-productive maintenance time through effective planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of maintenance activities. Identify and communicate equipment risks, reliability concerns, and potential operational impacts to management, particularly regarding critical plant assets. Work closely with Maintenance Specialists to identify equipment requiring major repairs and implement actions to reduce equipment deterioration and downtime. Evaluate new equipment installations, plant modifications, and capital projects from a maintenance and reliability perspective and provide recommendations for long-term asset performance. Promote equipment standardization and best maintenance practices across the facility to reduce lifecycle costs and simplify maintenance operations. Define spare parts requirements and inventory levels based on equipment criticality, maintenance history, reliability data, and company inventory management policies. Provide recommendations regarding operational and maintenance improvements designed to enhance equipment reliability, availability, and effectiveness. Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Autonomous Maintenance programs aligned with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 5 years of maintenance, reliability, or engineering experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience supervising maintenance personnel and coordinating maintenance activities in a production environment. Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution processes. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies and technologies. Hands-on experience applying reliability tools and methodologies, including: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Statistical Downtime Analysis Fishbone Analysis Experience with engineering design, specification, installation, and maintenance of industrial mechanical systems and equipment. Strong understanding of industrial maintenance best practices, asset management, and reliability improvement initiatives. Knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and industrial control systems within manufacturing environments. Familiarity with applicable industrial standards, codes, and regulatory requirements. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Knowledge of maintenance and reliability strategies including TPM, RCM, Spare Parts Management, Planning and Scheduling, and Asset Reliability Programs. Professional certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) are highly preferred. Vibration Analysis Certification Level I or II preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated success leading and participating in cross-functional teams. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to industrial manufacturing environments, including extreme heat, cold, noise, dust, and outdoor conditions. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies. Must be willing to work in operating plant environments around heavy industrial machinery and equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, push, pull, and lift throughout the workday.
