MAINTENANCE TEAM MEMBER: Job Description

The Temple Congregation Adath Israel Brith Sholom in Louisville is Kentuckys oldest and largest Jewish congregation. The Temple is a vibrant and inclusive Reform congregation with a commitment to instill in each generation the essential values of our faith and a deeper understanding of our heritage and our future. For 180 years, the Rabbis and lay leaders of The Temple have brought strength, vision, and insight into the lives of our over 700 household members, the broader Jewish community, and the city of Louisville at large.

OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Team Member will assist the Maintenance team (currently comprised of two full-time members, and one part-time member) to support the maintenance and housekeeping operational needs of The Temple campus.

This is a full-time position, 35 - 40 hours a week, with flexible scheduling hours for late afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts (weekends are mandatory).

The Maintenance Team Member reports to the Maintenance Team Leader and then the Executive Director.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the daily cleaning and operational needs of The Temple, including but not limited to:

  • Cleaning of the common areas, sanctuary, chapel, auditorium, kitchen, administrative offices, Religious School classrooms, and the Klein Center.
  • Setting up areas for event and session programming and clean-up/reset of area.
  • Assist the Maintenance Team Leader with projects as needed, including general repairs and upkeep and some electrical and plumbing needs.
  • Ensuring inventory supplies are kept current.
  • Attend weekly maintenance team meetings with The Temple team.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Have the ability to work non-traditional hours: weekends, evenings and Shabbat (Friday evening Saturday evening) and holiday services.
  • Work respectfully and positively within The Temples mission as a welcoming, inclusive, and caring community.
  • Be self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Have strong attention to detail and pride in the work.
  • Be capable of working efficiently without compromising our standards for cleanliness.
  • Adhere to strict health and safety requirements.
  • Have the physical strength and stamina necessary to accomplish the daily tasks.
  • Have previous professional cleaning experience.

COMPENSATION

  • The salary range for this position is $18 - $20/per hour.
  • Benefits include paid time off (vacation, personal, sick) and insurance benefits.
