Summary Under general supervision of the CITO, performs skilled work in maintenance trades within the 21st Century Operations department. Trades include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, equipment repairs, HVAC, sprinklers, welding, locksmithing, and general repairs. This individual provides a high level of customer service to students, staff, and administration to keep buildings operating at a high standard. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required. Assisting in project planning, scope of work, and quoting will be required at times. The person must be a problem solver, cost saver, and deliver daily customer service and knowledge. Our organization follows the Six Sigma 5S method of organization. Duties and Responsibilities Perform skilled maintenance, installation, and repair of all buildings and equipment in the following trades: HVAC — repairs, filter replacement, testing, welding, metal fabrication Inspect boilers, valves, switches, water levels, ventilation Maintain proper temperatures in all buildings Electrical Carpentry Maintain all cabinetries and appliances Apply finishes to wood, metal, glass, drywall, concrete Flooring including tile and carpet Ceiling tile repair Plumbing Repairs and maintenance Gas repairs and inspections Safety/Security Knowledge of OSHA requirements and implementation Locksmith responsibilities (hardware, cores, key control) Buildings and Grounds Maintain safe grounds outside (snow removal, pothole repair, etc.) General landscaping (trees, mulch, tree care) Use hand and electric tools Snow removal, salting, and creation of safe outdoor spaces Use the ticket / work order system, including IncidentIQ and Microsoft Planner, to keep a to‑do list and maintain a fast turnaround time for staff Many other miscellaneous repairs to any construction‑related items to maintain a high level of service Provide custodial duties as needed Work with third‑party contractors as required Any other duties assigned by Administration Skills and Knowledge Standard principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in at least three of the skilled trades Requirements of maintaining buildings and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition Preventative maintenance Implement all safety precautions Operation, use, and maintenance of powered equipment and heavy‑duty maintenance equipment Abilities Utilize technology including IncidentIQ, Microsoft Office, and Windows 11 to access district‑mandated trainings Show punctuality (show up on time / leave on time) Use required tools effectively Plan and organize work; be an organized individual Promote team building and a positive work environment Be flexible, exhibit integrity, and exercise mature judgment Perform heavy physical labor Work with little to no supervision, but also in a team setting Carry out oral and written instructions, including tickets, blueprints, and plans Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with everyone around you Travel Requirements Ability to travel between five buildings in a small geographic area; mileage is provided when using personal vehicle, and work vehicles are provided for the workday Experience Three (3) or more years of experience in three or more of the maintenance trades at a journeyman level Good work and attendance history Required licenses, certifications, and testing Pre‑employment physical and drug test Fingerprint clearance for school personnel Qualifications Knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, and safety issues Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work evenings and fill in for the day position when needed Education Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints; document solutions and resolutions into a ticket/knowledge‑base system. Physical Demands Lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and continuous standing while working. Exposure to dust, dirt, chemicals, inclement weather. Work is both indoors and outdoors. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, and stoop.
