Job Brief:
This individual will be responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of layer facilities, including all related equipment. Maintenance personnel are expected to make quality repairs, execute sound preventative maintenance programs, and perform all work safely and efficiently.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but not limited to:
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs state-of-the-art cage-free lay houses and equipment-related problems such as mechanical and electrical failures. Uses various hand and power tools, electric meters, and other tools to complete repairs.
- Developing and carrying out an effective preventative maintenance plan.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Independently executes Preventative Maintenance (PM), including cleaning, lubrication, oil changes, adjustments, repairs, rebuilds, and inspecting and replacing parts.
- Identifies necessary replacement parts and independently locates those parts in inventory. Assists in maintaining spare parts inventory through proper checkout of parts. Sources parts that are not in stock.
- Prioritizing order of repairs when multiple maintenance needs exist at the same time
- Ensuring the proper working of all electrical units and systems in the facility.
- Assists in partial or complete equipment overhauls. Rebuild parts as needed using manuals and SOPs.
- Document and perform repairs and propose improvements to the PM schedule when equipment fails.
- Assists in leading and training other maintenance and leads.
- Comply with safety regulations. Assesses job hazards independently and executes Lockout/ Tagout and other safety permits while working in confined spaces
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager, Production Manager, Supervisor, and leads to ensure downtime and repairs are met by the end of the day.
- Complying with all company and OSHA safety rules while performing maintenance functions.
- Carrying out a robust predictive maintenance program as equipment begins to age
- Perform uptime and downtime inspections, lubrications, and preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and perform corrective work on all mechanical and water systems within the facility.
- Identify and execute improvements on equipment, documentation, work systems, and processes.
- Repair and troubleshoot all rotating and stationary equipment, such as motors and gearboxes.
- Recognize conditions that could lead to equipment breakdowns.
- Collaborates with different levels of employees in various facility departments through face-to-face, telephone, email, and radio communications.
- Research system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication.
- Creates/modifies work orders and documents details of work performed.
- Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel-related issues to the direct lead or supervisor as necessary.
- Maintain good housekeeping of maintenance and production areas where maintenance work occurs.
- Properly complete the timesheet daily and submit your completed timecard for approval on the last day worked of each workweek.
- Resolve all timecard, attestation, and payroll-related matters and complete the attestation on the last day worked of each workweek.
- Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance per Central Valley Eggs attendance and punctuality policy.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Plumbing installation and repair
- Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair
- Experience with power, electric tools, and hand tools
- Understanding of and ability to repair various drive systems
- Heater and fan repair
- Building maintenance
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
Physical Requirements:
- Continuously lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds; regularly lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 75 pounds.
- Frequently climbs ladders; occasionally works at heights of 100 feet.
- Vision sufficient to safely perform the essential job tasks

Education/Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma (GED accepted)
- Technical Degree (Preferred)
- Work Experience: 2+ Years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to pass mechanical test.
- Must be able to work safely and effectively in a team environment and with minimal supervision.
- Must be self-motivated and willing to maintain and develop his/her skills.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and diagrams (Preferred).
Additional Requirements:
- Analytical skills and mechanical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
- Detailed oriented with the ability to follow a checklist and maintain accurate work order documentation.
- Experience in machine modification and rebuilds is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to clearly communicate information received in both written and verbal forms.
- Ability to use shop math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals) and interpret basic measuring equipment.
