The Maintenance Unit Supervisor Mechanical Utilities / Crane Repair oversees the safe and efficient operation of maintenance activities, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality in a lean manufacturing environment. This role focuses on leading a maintenance crew, resolving production issues, and implementing continuous improvement strategies to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe workplace, conduct safety discussions, and review job-specific safety measures.
  • Manage team performance to ensure safety, quality, timeliness, and delivery goals.
  • Develop and train team members through coaching, mentoring, and challenging assignments.
  • Assign tasks based on priorities, crewing requirements, and labor agreements.
  • Lead a skilled maintenance workforce in a customer-focused, flexible environment.
  • Utilize root cause analysis to resolve production issues and maintain equipment reliability.
  • Manage assets effectively to ensure proper operations and long-term equipment viability.
  • Advance business goals in quality, cost-efficiency, waste reduction, and lean manufacturing.
  • Handle performance recognition, discipline, and documentation of actions taken.

Skills/Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of HR/IR policies and labor agreements.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles (ABS) for business improvement
