About the Job:

The Airport Design & Construction department is looking for a Manager, Construction Safety to spearhead safety initiatives, ensuring the highest standards of safety compliance and risk management across our construction projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the construction of the airport. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of CALOSHA and OSHA requirements for construction, along with experience in managing safety staff. This position will require proactive engagement with the ADC project management and construction management teams, as well as with contractors, to develop and implement safety practices for all new and ongoing projects and;

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Innovative Safety Programs: Develop and integrate advanced safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments, translate business objectives into actionable safety strategies, and mitigate potential hazards effectively.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Interpret and apply local, state, and federal safety regulations, ensuring our projects meet and exceed compliance standards.
  • Efficient Project Management: Oversee the timely and efficient completion of safety initiatives through meticulous project management and strategic planning.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and consultants, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration.
  • Team Leadership and Coaching: Lead and mentor a team of safety professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For***:

  • Eight years of developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, accident prevention, loss control and/or risk management, of which at least four years were in leadership role overseeing construction safety and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in occupational health & safety, environmental health & safety industrial engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • A California Class C driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority’s vehicle insurance policy.

License, Certificates and Special Requirements:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour Construction Training Certificate. Cal/OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry
  • OSHA Hazard Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification

Preferred Education, Certification, and Licenses:

  • OSHA 500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation.
