YouthBuild USA, located in Roxbury, MA, is the support center for the YouthBuild movement. Job Summary
YouthBuild USA seeks a strategic, creative, and results-oriented Manager, Content Editor who will collaborate with content creators (authors) to ensure content-related material is reviewed, copyedited, proofread, and refined to deliver high-quality, relevant resources to key stakeholders (e.g., YouthBuild program staff, funders, etc.). This position requires someone who is a self-starter and has a strong understanding of the English language, excellent writing and editing skills, and a passion for ensuring final and approved materials communicate their intended goal creatively, effectively, and concisely. Strong attention to detail and project management skills are crucial for this role. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple concurrent projects and work with various stakeholders. You must be comfortable working independently and in a team setting.
Reporting to and working with the Director of Operations, DOLYB, the candidate will closely project manage individual deliverables, ensuring material is free from grammatical errors, branded correctly, and completed on time. The candidate must be comfortable working with different content creators who have different writing styles, approaches to the work, and varying levels of tenure.
The Manager, Content Editor must have a passion for creating impactful, targeted content that reflects and amplifies the diversity of the YouthBuild network, including its programs and the young people served. It is imperative that the candidate can communicate verbally and in writing with an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, as well as empathy, love (one of YouthBuild USA’s core values), and an asset-based lens. This role requires a commitment to uplift and leverage the proximate expertise of underserved communities and members.
Requirements
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the proofreading and copy-editing for all printed and digital communications from conception to production for large, complex initiatives and smaller-scale projects.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of the materials, which must be error-free, post-ready, and adhere to brand style guides. This may include external emails, Word documents, PowerPoints, training materials, videos, podcasts, webinars, etc.
- Act as a strategic thought partner on the design and branding of materials.
- Project-manage a multi-layered review and editing process for DOL deliverables; the ability to manage several projects at once is a must.
- Organize and translate learning into digestible content, designed to meet diverse learning styles and preferences.
- Work with different content creators, with varying writing and communication styles, to design the most effective medium(s) for sharing this content with our community.
- Develop collateral templates, infographics, and other visual modes of conveying critical information in an easily digestible way.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
- Understand 508 compliance and best practices.
- Sincere commitment to working collaboratively with different stakeholders including federal agencies, YouthBuild USA staff, DOLYB grantees, program participants, and others.
- Oversee storytelling and the creation of compelling and inspiring content that resonates with targeted audiences.
- Collaborate with the DOL YouthBuild Program Impact team to ensure resources, such as videos, podcasts, social media campaigns, and e-newsletters, follow best marketing practices.
- Recommend content for monthly newsletter.
- Knowledge of adult education learning principles.
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years or 5 plus years of relevant experience.
- Self-starter and strong communicator who can work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience managing complex projects with various deliverables and competing priorities and timelines.
- Strong communication and project management skills across multiple stakeholders; highly organized, system-minded, and process-oriented.
- Creative thinker with superb writing skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for introducing new ideas.
- Highly collaborative and adept at bringing together diverse perspectives - experiences, expertise, and exposure to other ways of doing things - to drive and improve work.
- Willingness to embrace, seek out, and act on feedback from various stakeholders.
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Exceptional communication and presentation (written and verbal) skills.
- Exceptional copy-editing skills are required.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a diverse community, while incorporating feedback and managing multiple projects.

- Extreme proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, especially Word and PowerPoint.

- Proficiency in Adobe programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus.
- Experience in photography and video production is a plus.
- Previous experience with Salesforce or other CRM databases is preferred but not required.
- Must have a passion for our mission and a good sense of humor.

Compensation
YouthBuild USA offers competitive salary and benefits, including health coverage, a 401(k) savings plan, life insurance, and disability benefits. Salary $65 - $70K.
