Core Responsibilities
- Manage the Civil Engineering Team and Tools Team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop team capabilities and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and management of structural specifications for underground facilities.
- Guide the team in structural evaluations, design, and repair recommendations.
- Lead long-term asset management strategies (such as automating and streamlining the structural defect review process) and respond to structural issues across the system.
- Supervise the development, evaluation, and improvement of tools and equipment for field operations.
- Oversee the development and management of tools specifications for Electric Operations field crews
- Ensure tool designs meet operational needs, safety standards, and are economically viable.
- Encourage innovation in tool and equipment design to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop strategies for new technologies and improvements in existing technologies.
- Coordinate project schedules and manage workloads across both teams.
- Provide technical support and expertise to various internal teams.
- Engage in and oversee engineering studies, offering recommendations on equipment and structural issues.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain for managing vendor relationships and contracts.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
- Ensure thorough documentation of team activities and project progress.
- Work closely with Electric Operation crews, Engineering groups, EH&S, and other departments.
- Represent teams in meetings, site visits, and as a technical consultant within the industry.
- Participate in industry and internal committees and task forces.
- Perform other tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and minimum of 6 years relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
Relevant Work Experience
- Must be detail-oriented and organized, and be able to handle multiple projects and meet their deadlines. Required
- Must be able to do research, exercise independent judgment and render sound business/technical decisions. Required
- Must possess strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and follow up skills and the ability to motivate people. Required
- Must have project management skills and the ability to develop workflows. Required
- Proficient with MS Office suite, and Office365 software. Required
- Experienced in analysis and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and foundation structures. Preferred
- Possess working knowledge of all applicable codes such as ACI, AISC, ASCE, NYC and NYS building codes. Preferred
- Knowledge of tools/equipment used in electric distribution Preferred
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications
- Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
- Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- Ability to read small print and symbols
Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Field visits may require ladder climbing and working in underground structures.
