Excellence Community Schools (ECS) is a Charter Management Organization (CMO) supporting schools in the Bronx, NY and Stamford, CT. Our programs are based on a proven, nationally recognized model, which originated in our flagship school, the Bronx Charter School for Excellence, a National Blue Ribbon School.

Job Overview
The Director of Communications and Marketing will lead and oversee all communication and marketing strategies and initiatives to drive brand awareness, engagement, and growth. This role requires a dynamic and strategic leader who can manage a team, develop comprehensive communication and marketing plans, and effectively communicate the brand's message across various channels.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies that align with Excellence Community Schools’ mission and annual goals.
- Create and manage annual communications and marketing budgets and plans.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities.
- Analyze and iterate plans to ensure quarterly and annual goals are attained.
Brand Management
- Ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication and marketing channels.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of brand guidelines.
- Enhance ECS’s public image and reputation.
Communications
- Develop and manage a comprehensive communication strategy, including internal and external communications.
- Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other company communications as directed.
- Conduct quality control audits on all communications.
- Develop working relationships digital and print media agencies.
Marketing Campaigns
- Plan, execute, and optimize marketing campaigns across digital, print, and other media.
- Analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies as necessary to achieve KPIs.
- Collaborate with sales and product teams to develop promotional materials and sales tools.
Digital Marketing
- Oversee ECS’s online presence, including website, social media, and email marketing.
- Implement SEO, SEM, and other digital marketing tactics to drive traffic and engagement.
- Utilize analytics tools to measure and improve digital marketing performance.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing and communications team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Set clear performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align marketing strategies with business goals, respond to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and media.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in marketing and communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing and communication strategies.
- Experience with digital marketing, social media, and content creation.
- Strong leadership and team management skills including the ability to lead and motivate a staff to produce high-level, brand driven content.
- Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills.
- Proficient in marketing analytics and performance metrics.
- Analytical and creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding organizational skills coupled with an ability to multitask and prioritize projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
