Managing Director PositionVHB is seeking a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial, and experienced operations leader to serve as the Managing Director of our 100+ person Vermont operation, with offices located in South Burlington, Montpelier, and Rutland. The successful candidate must have extensive leadership and business development experience; broad knowledge of the delivery of integrated engineering, transportation, planning, and environmental services to public and private sector clients; and a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage staff. The successful candidate must also be able to lead the development and implementation of the office's growth strategy and oversee complex projects. Market and client experience within Vermont is required.ResponsibilitiesEstablish the office's annual business plan and oversee the achievement of business and financial goalsCoordinate business development efforts to identify and pursue opportunities in multiple markets for public and private sector clientsLead and partner with the office leadership team to establish and achieve the strategic initiatives for the officeConduct office leadership meetings and office-wide staff meetingsOversee project performanceParticipate in local market business community activities to further the prominence of VHBDevelop and grow VHB staff, act as a mentor at all levelsLead go/no go and partnering decisions on strategic pursuitsOversee relationships with key clients and manage important project assignmentsManage external visibility effortsStay connected with regional and corporate leadership through in-person attendance at regular meetings across the New England region and VHB footprint.Serve as a VHB ambassador, promoting VHB's success and seeking innovative ways to lead industrySkills and AttributesStrong business acumenProven ability to oversee a team of industry professionalsProven ability to generate new businessKnowledgeable in a broad range of engineering, transportation, energy, planning and environmental topics, spanning both the public and private sectorsAbility to think and act strategically in developing business and pursuing client targetsExceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, including ability to mentor staff and successfully managing complex, multi-disciplinary projectsHighly motivated self-starterExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to think and act strategically in developing business and pursuing client targetsQualifications15+ years of relevant professional experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, including significant management experience, required5 years of local Vermont experience in a leadership capacity within AEC industry requiredBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, Environmental Services, or a related field requiredProfessional licensure, i.e. PE, PG, AICP preferredWe are VHB!
