The Coeur d'Alene Press, nestled in the scenic beauty of Northern Idaho and a flagship of the Hagadone Media Group & News Network, is seeking a dynamic Managing Editor. This role offers a chance to lead a dedicated team committed to journalistic excellence and community engagement. As a beacon of information in Coeur d'Alene, our editor will play a pivotal role in serving our readers with effective local reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Editorial Leadership: Guide our newsroom staff in crafting and presenting a mix of news, sports, and feature stories that resonate with our local audience. Your vision will shape our newspaper and digital offerings, ensuring they are timely, accurate, and engaging.
  • Personal Involvement: Our managing editor personally oversees the Opinion and Editorial sections of the Coeur d'Alene Press. Working closely with our editorial board and division president, the editor will continue to craft our voice with responsibility and balance.
  • Team Management: Be at the forefront of hiring, developing, and motivating our newsroom team. We value an optimistic, detail-oriented, and adaptable leader who can respond to the evolving needs of our community.
  • Local Focus: Emphasize stories that matter to Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, and the surrounding areas, capturing the essence of life in North Idaho, from its stunning landscapes to its vibrant community events.
  • Digital & Print Expertise: Oversee our print and digital platforms, ensuring high journalistic standards and a compelling online presence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a newsroom setting, with exceptional writing, editing, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to engage with various stakeholders, including executive leadership, staff, readers, community leaders, and officials.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and meet deadlines effectively.

Compensation:
