Allied Reliability is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist / Millwright Machinist to join our machine shop team. This role is responsible for performing precision machining, fabrication, and repair of rotating and reciprocating equipment components. Using manual lathes, milling machines, and other shop tools, you will help ensure our customers’ equipment operates safely and reliably. This position is shop-based, working closely with other machinists and technicians in a team-oriented, safety-driven environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, boring mills, and other conventional machine tools to repair or manufacture parts to exact specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.
  • Perform dimensional layouts and verify part conformity using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Machine various materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, cast iron, etc.) to close tolerances.
  • Align, secure, and balance workpieces and tooling to ensure accuracy and safe operation.
  • Deburr, stamp, and finish parts as required by specifications.
  • ​​​​​​​Perform basic millwright machining tasks, such as fitting and assembly of precision components for pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and similar rotating equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, measurements, and part traceability.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all Allied Reliability safety standards and PPE requirements.
  • ​​​​​​​Inspect equipment before use and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • ​​​​​​​Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability.


​​​​​​​Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • ​​​​​​​2+ years of hands-on experience operating manual machine tools in a machine shop or industrial repair environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools to within ±0.0005”.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and shop safety.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks (standing, bending, kneeling, and handling components).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed to meet production demands.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience repairing or machining rotating equipment components such as shafts, impellers, seals, or bearing housings.
  • ​​​​​​​Familiarity with industrial millwright practices (fit-up, alignment, precision assembly).
  • Background in the oil & gas, power generation, or manufacturing sectors.
