CDR General Services is seeking a Manual Machinists in the Belle Rose, LA area for industrial fabrication and machining operations. As a key part of the team, you will operate manual lathes, mills, and boring mills, fabricating precision components for use in sugar mills, petrochemical plants, and other industrial facilities.

Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Rotating shifts – either 5x8s or 4x10s, including weekend availability
Pay: $28–$31/hour (based on experience)

Job Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, mills, and boring mills
• Measure, mark, and layout raw materials to meet detailed part specifications
• Modify or repair worn mechanical parts to restore fit and function
• Interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Use measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Check finished parts for accuracy and ensure they meet quality standards before dispatch
• Maintain and properly use machinist tools
• Assist in maintaining shop equipment and keeping the work area clean and organized
• Follow all shop safety policies, wear proper PPE, and operate equipment responsibly
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and teamwork

Requirements

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with manual machining (e.g., lathes, mills, boring mills)
• Experience reading blueprints and shop drawings
• Basic math skills
• Must have basic machinist tools
• Must be available to work rotating shifts, including weekends
• Multiple machinery knowledge
• Comfortable working in heat and industrial conditions.
• Positive attitude and dependable work ethic required
• Must have at least 60% English fluency for shop communication
• Able to start immediately

Physical Requirements:

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
• Stand and walk for extended periods (8–10 hours)
• Bend, stoop, crouch, and reach to operate machinery
• Use precise hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for measuring and machining tasks
• Tolerate heat, noise, dust, and other industrial shop conditions
• Wear required PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection) throughout shifts
