In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the development, optimization, and sustainability of manufacturing processes for critical elastomer materials and products. Your expertise will directly influence product quality, production efficiency, and compliance with rigorous industry standards, working collaboratively across engineering, quality, safety, and operations teams to bring cutting-edge solutions to life.


What You'll Do:


Process Engineering & Optimization:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize elastomer molding, extrusion, mixing, and curing processes, including compression molding, injection molding, and calendaring.

  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause problem-solving methodologies.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), control plans, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs).


Manufacturing Support:

  • Provide essential day-to-day technical support to production teams, expertly troubleshooting process and equipment issues specific to elastomer manufacturing.

  • Define and validate critical process parameters for both new and existing products to ensure stability, repeatability, and strict compliance with product specifications.

  • Oversee tooling design, conduct tooling trials, and manage qualification processes for elastomer components.


Equipment & Technology:

  • Specify, validate, and maintain specialized elastomer processing equipment, including mixers, extruders, molding presses, curing ovens, and advanced inspection tools.

  • Lead or actively support capital equipment projects, encompassing justification, procurement, installation, and validation phases.

  • Identify and implement innovative technologies to enhance elastomer flow, curing chemistry, throughput, and product consistency.


Safety & Environmental:

  • Champion safety initiatives by proactively identifying risks associated with high-temperature processes, chemical mixing, and press operations.

  • Ensure unwavering compliance with environmental regulations pertinent to elastomer materials and curing agents.


Must-Have Qualifications:


  • Strong Manufacturing Engineer experience specifically within an organization focused on elastomer materials.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications:


  • Experience in the aerospace industry.

  • Experience with ITAR regulations.

  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
