Job Description

Our client, a leader in the industrial manufacturing industry, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance / Manufacturing Engineer to support a multi-building heavy manufacturing operation. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance processes, and leading a team of skilled technicians across multiple facilities. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, practical troubleshooting experience, and proven leadership capabilities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

  • Oversee maintenance and repair of heavy manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency
  • Implement and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10–15 maintenance technicians across multiple buildings
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures
  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities and prioritize work orders to meet production demands
  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Capital Projects & Process Improvement

  • Lead and support capital equipment projects, including installation, upgrades, and commissioning
  • Partner with operations and external vendors to execute equipment improvements and expansions
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, reduce downtime, and increase throughput
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships for assigned projects

Electrical & Controls Coordination

  • Provide oversight and coordination of outsourced electrical controls work
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors on controls troubleshooting, upgrades, and system integrations
  • Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer for controls systems

Multi-Site Operations

  • Support maintenance operations across multiple facilities/buildings
  • Standardize maintenance procedures and best practices across locations
  • Ensure consistent safety and compliance standards are maintained


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, manufacturing engineering, or industrial operations within a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with industrial machinery, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in a production setting
  • Experience leading and managing teams (10–15 direct reports preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with capital projects, equipment installation, and process improvements
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work across multiple facilities and manage competing priorities
