This position is responsible for process and testing improvements, automation technology, increasing efficiency while maintaining quality standards, supporting OEM customers, and new product introductions for the Thorlabs Measurement Systems division. 

Although the location of the position is in Londonderry, NH, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Essential Job Functionsinclude the following, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure products meet requirement specifications.
  • Assist product and process improvement efforts.
  • Generate CAD files, BOM and other documentation.
  • Write/run programs, scripts, data acquisition tools.
  • Support construction of functional prototypes, jigs, breadboards, and fixtures.
  • Research improvements in materials, techniques, and methods.
  • Assist development of new test infrastructure (hardware and software).
  • Employ design for test & design for manufacturing methods.
  • Validate designs, perform acceptance tests, and release updates to production.
  • Support production of OEM and customer specific applications.

:

  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

 

Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years in a relevant engineering position or product manufacturing environment and demonstrated skills proficiency

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent work experience.

 

Proficient:

  • ERP systems, SolidWorks 3D design, and PLM software
  • GD&T, DFM and DFT experience
  • Quality management systems
  • Design custom fixtures, tooling, process development and documentation
  • Experience using standard measurement equipment (including calipers, micrometers, pin and thread gauges)
  • Familiarity with Six sigma, lean manufacturing

Desired:

  • Work with optics, motors, tight tolerance electro-opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Factory automation experience
  • Programming and scripting
  • COMSOL, ANSYS and/or FMEA software
  • Biological imaging and laser material processing experience
